Music & Arts
Our Music Program at First United Methodist Church in Madison, WI seeks to express the love and the glory of God. Its primary purpose is to enhance the worship experience as an inspiring and artistic expression of service and praise to God.
We currently have three vocal choirs, a handbell choir and a brass choir. Singers, keyboard players and instrumentalists of all levels are welcome. Contact Musical Director for more information or call 608-256-9061.

The Blessed Brass
The Blessed Brass usually plays once a month at the 9:30 worship hour, September through May. It is made up of many area musicians. It rehearses the Monday evening before their scheduled Sunday, and again on the Sunday morning before worship. Experience on a brass instrument is needed.

Chamber Choir
The Chamber Choir usually sings once a month at the 9:30 worship hours, September through May. It is comprised of experienced singers who meet on Sunday morning, sight-read the music and shape it for worship all in 15 minutes. Membership in this group needs to be discussed with the Director of Music.

Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir is an enthusiastic volunteer choir with singers of all ages and abilities who regularly sing in worship. Anyone with an interest in singing sacred music is welcome. Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Room, LL20. It does not meet during the summer months.

Handbell Choir
The Handbell Choir is a level 4-5 choir that usually plays once a month at the 9:30 worship hours, September through May. The ability to read music is needed for the present handbell choir. People able to substitute on a call-basis are always welcome. The choir rehearses Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. It does not meet during the summer months.

Chapel Choir
The Chapel Choir usually sings at the 11 a.m. Chapel Worship, once or twice a month. Their repertoire is more contemporary. This choir rehearses on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. in the lower level music room prior to the 11 o'clock service. All levels of vocal abilities are welcome.
If you have particular gifts for vocal or instrumental music and are willing to share them on a Sunday morning, we often incorporate soloists and ensembles throughout the year. Please let our know your instrument and willingness to share during worship.
