MS & HS Youth
First Church Youth Ministries in Madison, WI serves Middle School Youth (6th-8th grades) and Senior High Youth (9th-12th grades). Through our programs and discussions, we strive to experience a deeper connection with God, provide a welcoming, fun and comfortable space to share our ideas and experiences, put our ideas into actions of love and compassion, and try to live a life closer to the love that Jesus lived. For questions or comments email Schroerlucke, Coordinator of Youth & Young Adult Ministries, or call 608.256.9061.

Mission Trips
First Church youth have two mission trips in the summer. The aim is for the youth to experience different cultures, to make relationships with people in those cultures, to serve people in need and to grow stronger bonds with each other through these powerful experiences. Youth raise money for these trips through a series of four fundraisers in the spring of each year.
2013 High School Mission Trip- July 20-28 (Kentucky)
It has become a tradition each summer for the high school youth to go to the Appalachian region of the U.S. to take part with the Appalachia Service Project (ASP). We help repair homes, experience a different culture, and make meaningful relationships with the families who live there. Truly, one of the highlights of our year!
*Note- we are exploring going abroad for our 2014 HS Mission Trip- stay tuned!
2013 Middle School Mission Trip - June 23-28 (Detroit, MI)
The Motown Mission Experience provides economic disaster recovery ranging from home repair, feeding the homeless, and helping “green-up” the city. As a United Methodist connected organization, it offers an experience deeply rooted in Wesleyan theology (of doing no harm, learning how to do good, and practicing staying in love with God) and the contemporary UMC's call to mission and service as a means for individual and communal transformation.
- Live at historic Metropolitan United Methodist Church where there is a gymnasium & shower facilities.
- Participate in great evening activities like worship, small group conversations, a Detroit Tigers baseball game or other cultural events, live concerts by local musicians, and great speakers from around Detroit.
- Work at project sites from 9am-3pm daily
- Take afternoon trips to the most fun places in "The D"
Confirmation Program
Using adult mentors, monthly classes and lots of spiritual experiences, Confirmation is a way youth learn about their faith, explore membership in the United Methodist Church and what this means for them in their lives. Click here to learn more.
Dinner Conversations
This year, the Youth Program is encouraging monthly "dinner conversations" on faith and spirituality. Each month, families will receive a short question or topic via email pertaining to what the youth are exploring in Sunday School and Confirmation. This is a fantastic opportunity to share among family members your spiritual journeys and learn from each other’s walk. You are encouraged to designate a night of the week as "discussion night". Remember: Keep an open mind and it always helps to begin the meal with a prayer :) Few things can bring us closer together than our spirituality.
