The 40-day Lenten journey invites members and friends of First United Methodist Church to focus on the life, ministry and death of Jesus. Though the season is typically seen as a time for sober reflection, we recognize that the journey leads us to the good news of Easter! With the promise of good news before us, our theme for this year’s Lenten journey is Jesus the Christ: Visions of Hope. For those who have “eyes to see and ears to hear,” the transformative, life-giving power of the Christ is made manifest in many ways. During this season and beyond, our challenge is to identify, claim, and share the many ways and places we find hope for the journey. Several of our members have been willing to identify, claim and share visions of hope. We trust that the visions shared over these next 40 days will inspire us, strengthen the connections among us, and give us hope for the journey.
